President Barack Obama openly criticized Kim Kardashian and her family by stating that their reality TV show, and others like it, helped create a mindset obsessed with the celebrity culture and not the traditional American dream. Kim Kardashian and her relatives have built up a reality TV empire over the last few years with "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and their three spin-off series.

"The American dream involved some pretty basic stuff -- a good job where you felt some security, a good education ... People felt if they worked hard they could get there ... I don't think people went around saying to themselves, 'I need to have a 10,000-square-foot house' ... I think there has also been a shift in culture," President Obama said.

"We weren't exposed to the things we didn't have in the same way that kids these days are. There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success," he continued.

Still, the Kardashian family signed the largest reality TV deal in history after signing a new contract with the E! network.

The controversial Kardashian family will be paid more than $40 million for a contract that will run through 2015.

The majority of their paycheck will be evenly distributed among the elder Kardashian sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe, and parents Kris and Bruce Jenner, while the younger siblings Kendall, Kylie and Rob will equally be paid less.

Boyfriend to Kourtney, Scott Disick, and husband to Khloe, Lamar Odom, landed separate deals that were on a lower pay grade compared to their better halves and even Kourtney and Disick's son, Mayson, will get a cut all for appearing on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

The $40 plus million deal did not include product endorsements and other items associated with the show, which means the Kardashian family will likely generate even more millions for other deals from their various clothing lines and endless endorsement deals.
