Pregnant Duchess Kate Middleton, along with Prince Williams, has landed and is enjoying New York at its best. But what has raised eyebrows of several onlookers, as well as medical experts, is the pair of stilettos sported by the Duchess.

Five-month pregnant Kate Middleton was seen trotting around New York in her high heels. NY Daily News has confirmed that despite being pregnant, Duchess Kate Middleton has insisted on wearing only high heels during the New York trip.

Since Her Highness' arrival in New York City, she has always been seen strapped in three-inch high-heeled shoes. Be it Sunday night's arrival or Monday's outing in which she visited a Harlem child development centre, the Duchess was seen every time in high heels, which is deemed dangerous for a pregnant woman.

In the latest photographs taken during an NBA game, the Duchess was again seen in high heels paired with skinny jeans and a Tweed Tory Burch coat. As per Medical writer Daphne Metland of Baby Center, pregnant women should stay away from high heels or wear them for only a couple of hours, if necessary. Wearing high heels contribute to lower back pain and is not advised in a state when one is prone to feel dizziness.

In her first pregnancy, the Duchess was also regularly spotted in high heels. Daily Mail has reported in an issue that despite repeated warnings from doctors all over the world, the Duchess was reluctant to give up her love for high heels. "Pregnant women should not wear high heels every day," Dr. Isaac Tabari of the NYC Podiatry Centre of Excellence in Midtown told NY Daily News. Also, due to change in their centre of gravity, pregnant women have more chances of falling over and hurting the baby.

Duchess Kate Middleton is not alone in this stunt though. Despite repeated warnings from the medical fraternity, many pregnant celebrities and A-listers are often seen sporting sky-high heels. Rachel Zoe, Jessica Simpson, Kourtney Kardashian, Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana and Shakira continue to wear high heels in their pregnancy. Victoria Beckham was not that lucky with high heels as she suffered from a slipped disc during her fourth pregnancy due to her love for heels.

Eva Chen, who is the editor in chief of Lucky magazine, however, supports the Duchess saying that one should respect pregnancy adage that "If it feels good and makes you happy, do it." Chen has herself worn high heels throughout her pregnancy without any side effect.
