Eight-months pregnant Kate Middleton is due to give birth to her second bundle of joy next month and gamblers around the country are already placing their bets on everything -- from royal baby’s gender to its hair color. The popular bets are placed on the baby’s name and Alice is a popular choice.

“Betfair Sportsbook was forced to slash the odds for Alice to 3/1 after receiving a flurry of bets,” according to Hello magazine. “The bookmaker is currently seeing the traditional moniker Elizabeth ranked second at 5/1 with Charlotte following behind at 11/2.”

Alice is the name of Queen Victoria’s second daughter, Alice Maud Mary. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still mum when it comes to their second child’s gender but if they decide to name their little princess Alice then they are giving a nod to England’s former queen. The late queen is known for her women’s rights advocacy and her compassionate nature -- two qualities that a future modern monarch should have.

The name Elizabeth has been the favourite until a sudden rush of support for Alice put Elizabeth to the second spot. The Duchess recently revealed that she is due in “mid-to-late April” and according to reports, if she gives birth near the Queen’s birthday on April 21, then the name Elizabeth is a fitting name if she is having daughter.

Although many gamblers are mostly gunning for a girl, there are some people who are still hoping that Kate Middleton is pregnant with another son. The popular boy names for the second royal baby are James, Philip and Arthur, including some unusual bets for Tyrone, Macbeth, Ringo and Chardonnay.

Metro U.K. combined the odds based on Paddy Power, Landbroke and Coral, and Elizabeth tops the list of names with 7/2 followed by James with 8/1. Other names on the list according to their popularity include Charlotte (9/2), Victoria (10/1); Philp, Alice, Mary, Arthur and Diana (4/1) and Alexander (14/1).

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton was spotted shoe shopping in Trotters last week in Chelsea, London, where she “change up” Prince George’s first pair of walking shoes. The pregnant royal replaced her son’s shoes with “Start-Rite Flexy-Soft Milan navy blue leather sneakers.” The 33-year-old brunette also stopped by Zara over the weekend where she reportedly bagged a pair of white leather and beige suede booties for her newborn child.
