Microsoft has begun taking pre-orders for its two latest flagships, the Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950, at Microsoft stores in the UK. Shipping of the white coloured model will begin December 3 while the other colour options will be available later on.

These two new handsets will have Windows 10 at its core and are due for release this December. In the UK, you can buy the devices from two major stores, Expansys and Clove.

Expansys charges £475 (AU$1025) for the Lumia 950 and £540 (AU$1166) for the Lumia 950 XL, said Neuro Gadget. Other stores like Carphone Warehouse and Unlocked Mobiles have also confirmed they’ll sell the two handsets once they arrive in the UK.

The use of iris scanning technology in these two phones will appeal the most to buyers. Supported by Windows Hello, the technology allows you to look straight into the mobile to unlock it.

The Lumia 950 XL will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 CPU while the Lumia 950 will run on hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 CPU. Moving to other specs, both phones have 32 GB of internal space capacity expandable by a microSDcard to up to 200 GB.

The Lumia 950 XL boasts of a 5.7-inch screen, which is bit larger than Lumia 950’s 5.2- inch screen. The displays of both phones are protected by Gorilla Glass 4, according to Chrsitian Post. Slim is trending and the Lumia 950 XL is the thinner of the two phones. Strangely enough, the phone looks chic but is heavy when held.

Both phones are armed with 20 megapixel primary cameras and five megapixel front cameras, quite impressive for selfies. You can charge batteries in both devices up to 50% in just 30 minutes by synching both. The connectivity options available for both include Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and dual band 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
