YouTube can be a treasure throve for entertainment and knowledge seekers. But unfortunately, some users do not know how to sort valuable content from trash. Proof of this is the fact that a prank tutorial video on how to get a headphone jack on the new iPhone 7 has gone viral on the video-sharing website.

The YouTube video titled “Secret Hack to get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7” has gotten at least 10.4 million views since it was uploaded on Sep. 17. The prank video, which runs for less than two minutes, instructs watchers to drill their iPhone 7 to engrave a 3.5 millimetre headphone jack on the bottom of the new iOS smartphone.

“This video is for those who don't want to get US$159 (AU$207) wireless Airpods or to insert your headphones into an adapter every time you listen to music,” the video uploader, identified only as TechRax, said in the information.

Some users claimed that TechRax’s hack worked, while some knew better than to be duped into destroying their new iPhone 7 gadgets.

Apparently, a number of iPhone 7 owners fell for the prank video as some commenters said the video made headlines in New Zealand, Germany and Mexico, among others. For his part, the video creator laughed off complaints about his tutorial video.

After drilling the Matte Black iPhone 7 device, TechRax also placed his smartphone inside a Panasonic microwave oven three times until it won’t boot anymore. TechRax also got a new Jet Black iPhone 7 and dipped the phone into a bowl of liquid nitrogen before shattering it with a hammer. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models are Apple’s first waterproof and shockproof smartphones.

TechRax has 5.1 million subscribers on YouTube. Identified as California-based Ukranian Taras Maksimuk, TechRax said he specializes in smashing technology for pleasure.

“I am just someone who has a passion for gaming/technology and makes YouTube videos on a constant basis!”

"Microwaved, Chainsawed, Burned iPhone's, I got you covered."
