Developer GameFreak and Nintendo have recently released new updates for “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,” as well as the older “Pokemon X and Y.” The new update, spotted by trusted Pokemon source Serebii, is reportedly made available on a global scale for the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

The update will bring in some bug fixes, the most notable of which is the improvement of the text of the two games. More than that, however, Nintendo Life reports that the update is required to keep playing online. The update, which is at 246 blocks for “Pokemon X and Y” and 271 blocks for “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,” will lock out players from online gameplay until the update has been completed.

For easier access of the new downloadable updates, the link above provides update QR codes for the games. These can be scanned using the Nintendo 3DS Camera. Otherwise, the update can be accessed via the Nintendo eShop.

Related to the two “Pokemon” titles that recently received global updates, a startling discovery was uncovered in an exclusive interview with GameFreak’s Ken Sugimori, Shigeru Ohmori, Shigeki Morimoto and Kazumasa Iwao. Pokebeach reports that the developers revealed the reason for why a Mega Flygon does not exist.

According to the report, the creators were unable to complete the design for Mega Evolution of Flygon. There were already plans for Flygon’s further evolution, and it was the one character that had potential for it, given circumstances.

“For Aarune, he needed to have a Pokemon that could use the moves Fly and Secret Power, which are perfect moves for finding Secret Bases. And the only Hoenn Pokemon that wasn’t used by a key character that fit that criteria was Flygon,” said Sugimori in a translated quote featured by Pokebeach.

Despite the potential of a Mega Flygon, the supposed artist’s block experience by GameFreak developers stopped it from happening. No word has been given on whether Flygon will be picked up again for its Mega Evolved version. But as far as the interview was concered, the Mega Flygon meant for “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire” and even “Pokemon X and Y” has been dropped.
