Sony's PlayStation 5 just might be launched in 2018. The Internet was earlier abuzz with talk the next generation gaming console was only going to see the light of day by 2020.

Word pointing to an earlier PS5 release date seems to confirm the PS4 will have a shorter life span than its predecessors. It’s believed the PS4 is already out of date, especially as regards its technology. After all, the gaming niche is on the rise and console makers want to keep their units up to date with the newest gaming tech.

Sony's developers (as well as Microsoft's) are hard at work behind closed doors developing a new look, design and technology for the upcoming next generation gaming consoles -- the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Two, Value Walk reported. They might be slaving away to ensure the expected 2018 release.

It’s also expected the PS5 is going to be much more powerful -- allegedly five times the more powerful -- than the PS4. Considering a lack of power in the PS4 is one of the biggest issues facing Sony gamers, the company might want to fix this problem as soon as possible. The PS4 has failed to deliver a state of the art gaming experience to users despite outperforming the Xbox One multiple times.

Gamers are getting even more excited when news about the PS5 with 4K graphics came out. AMD technology will make 4K possible. Plus, it’s also very possible the PS5 is going to feature 4K gaming, considering Sony was the first to launch a 4K resolution smartphone, according to Tech Radar.
