Many were surprised when a “Hitman” spin-off title was announced by Square Enix for mobile devices, but were even more surprised that it would be a board game-esque type of title called “Hitman GO.” The bigger shock however, was that the title proved to be a huge hit for fans of the series and mobile games in general, which has lead to “Hitman Go” getting a re-release on PC for Windows 8.1 users and Windows Phones.

For those unfamiliar with the spin-off title, “Hitman GO” was a turn-based stealth game that relied on stealth with turn-based strategy gameplay. Instead of controlling “Hitman” protagonist Agent 47 directly, players would have to give the character commands, while trying to complete the various objectives in the levels.

The game was originally an iOS exclusive, but managed to get an Android release last June, according to a report from Eurogamer. Given the popularity of the “Hitman” games and a new movie coming out in August, it makes sense to bring the title to some new platforms as a way to reach a wider audience.

While the game is a re-release of an iOS title, the Windows ports are set to have a few exclusive features that won’t be available on the mobile versions of the game. Windows users will be able to unlock Xbox Live achievements for “Hitman GO,” which is exclusive to the Windows versions of the hit game as stated by Econnected.

As mentioned earlier “Hitman GO,” was a huge success when it first came out to iOS devices. Touch Arcade gave the game full five stars, calling it a uniquely fun game and a surprise hit puzzle game. “Hitman GO” currently has an overall score of 81 from Metacritic, proving that the puzzle game was a hit with the critics, as well as fans of the “Hitman series.”

“Hitman GO” is available now on PC for users with Windows 8.1 and Windows phones for $2.99. The game is also available for iOS and Android devices, though the Windows versions will be the one with exclusive Xbox Live achievements that the previous mobile versions won’t have access to.
