Plants vs Zombies 2 release date to iOS devices has been moved for the global iPhone, iPad and iPod players. Australia and New Zealand iDevice users, however, have been enjoying the game since early this month. Here is a first-look review and walkthrough of the much-awaited PopCap game refresh, PvZ 2.

There are at least seven (7) things to absolutely like in the new and improved PvZ game. Here are IBT's Top 7 of the many exciting PvZ features. These will excite the global users - both iOS and Android players - who have been itching for the new Plants vs Zombies:

7. Crazy Dave as Dr Who with Penny. Plants vs Zombies 2 has its own Dr Who. Crazy Dave is now travelling through time and space with his own blue box, err, bus -- Penny.

6. Yeti Events. Players get a "memo" when the elusive Yeti is ready to show up.

5. Star Quests. There are stars to collect throughout the game. Players don't have to complete all levels before enjoying the "side games" and "star quests." The quests increase as PvZ fans progress into the game.

4. New Worlds. Ancient Egypt is a bit boring. Perhaps players whose minifd has been squeezed and challenged by Candy Crush Saga would find the first new PvZ world a bit too, "old." Been there, done that. But those who don't quit will find more plants, encounter more challenges and enjoy the game a bit more. The worlds to explore include Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas, and Wild West. A Space Challenge is reportedly coming up, too.

3. Plant Food. Plants vs Zombies 2 has a new way to re-energize the plants. The energy will come from some special glowing zombies. Catch them all and use them properly. The key is to use each and every revitalizing "food" at the most opportune moment. Players can keep only three at a time. TIP: Use one food quickly with the sunflower to accommodate the fourth and succeeding servings.

2. New Upgrades. Power Pinch (Think Force Choke from Star Wars), Power Zap (Think Pokemon's Pikachu) and Power Toss (Think 'Hulk, Smash'). Players will need a lot of coins to use these upgrades. This confirms the fear of those who were already complaining that players will have to pay more to play more this time around.

1. New Zombies, New Plants. Plants vs Zombies 2 could be deemed a bit too uneventful on the first part of the player's Ancient Egypt journey. But once players get more new plants and take on more Yeti "events," things get more exciting pretty fast.

PopCap reportedly wants to make sure it has a robust backend support before launching Plants vs Zombies into the world. It was originally scheduled for release in July, but now the company is looking at a fall release in the U.S. according to some reports.

A Plants vs Zombies 2 walkthrough is still a work in progress on IGN.com. But the site has a 35-minute video for those who are curious. (Scroll down for the PvZ clip.)

Those who spent sleepless nights playing the original PvZ will be busy with PvZ 2. PopCap tried to raise the bar for zombie fun, and the company did a pretty fun job!
