The "Planet of the Apes" series may have more than three instalments. Andy Serkis, who plays the lead role in the film, said in his recent interview that the popular franchise might feature a fourth and fifth instalment before it ends.

"It might not necessarily be summarized or completely fulfilled in this next one. The point being, eventually we know that we're going to end up back at 'The Planet of the Apes,' but whether it's this film or not, I don't know," Serkis said in his interview to MTV.

Currently, Serkis is gearing up for the third instalment, "Planet of the Apes 3," however; he says it is very early to talk about the film, as things are still in the process. The film may start five years from where "Dawn of the Planet the Apes" left off. The script of the "Planet of the Apes 3," is still being written and director Matt Reeves wants to focus on the evolution of the apes, reports MTV.

Since the announcement of third film of the sci-fi franchise, it is being speculated that it may feature a major faceoff between humans and the apes. Caesar (Andy Serkis) will gain a mythical status and will guide the ape community. According to Serkis, "human nature" of apes will be explored in the third film when it opens in 2016.

Moreover, "Planet of the Apes 3" needs a concrete storyline, which can act as a basic building block for future instalments. Meanwhile, the third movie may also see the reincarnation of Koba. Caesar left the altered Bonobo (Koba) hanging from the ledge in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." Toby Kebbell who stood out in the role of Koba has hinted about his return in the "Planet of the Apes 3."

According to Hollywood Reporter, Toby hopes that Matt Reeves may find a way to bring back his character. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is now available to stream in HD today and its Blue Ray/DVD will be released on Dec 2. The film has passed $700million at the worldwide box office. Andy Serkis is speculated to get an Oscar nomination for his role of Caesar in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes."
