Pinterest had earlier announced its decision to introduce ‘buyable pins’ for iOS users based in the US and now the company has officially rolled out buyable pins for iPhone or iPad users in the US on June 30.

Buyable Pins that will be marked with a blue ‘buy button’ will offer a wide range of products from retailers, namely, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and Nordstrom, retailers powered by Demandware like Gardener’s Supply Company and Michaels; and Shopify stores like Poler Outdoor Stuff and SOBU, reports 9 to 5 Mac. Pinterest users will also find a blue price tag next to buyable pins that will reveal details about user’s home feed, boards, search results, category feeds and recommendations.

Pinterest has worked closely with brands to measure user interest. ClickZ quoted Michael Yamartino, product manager at Pinterest, saying, “Buyable Pins are the most requested pinner feature.” Yamartino told the publication that the company is currently focused to ensure that whatever things (both small and big brands) users are pinning are buyable. “We looked to things that people were already pinning and looked for the brands that were already popular on Pinterest,” said Yamartino from Pinterest.

Many users will figure out that the things they had pinned in the past will be available for purchase as Buyable pins are retroactive. Besides that, users will also get notifications on price change and sales on products they have already pinned through the app. In order to enable brands to target consumers showing interest in their products, Pinterest plans to combine Promoted Pins later this summer, according to the ClickZ report.

Pinterest had earlier said that Android and desktop users will see Pinterest’s buyable pins in future releases.

In May, Google had announced its plans to launch ‘Buy Buttons’ on Search result pages. The button will be positioned near sponsored search results below a ‘Shop on Google’ at the top of the page, reports 9 to 5 Google. This initiative by Google is considered to have a lot of potential to compete with e-commerce giants like eBay and Amazon, Tech Times reported.
