PewDiePie has launched his first show on Twitch. However, it did not reach the number of views expected from him.

The YouTube sensation, having turned somewhere else, recently premiered "Best Club," his new show on Twitch. The star, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, hosts the show on a channel called Netglow. Twitch is viewed as a YouTube rival.

During the first live stream of "Best Club" on Sunday, Kjellberg and co-host Brad Smith chatted for two hours. They also played games and pulled off some pranks.

The hosts opened the new show with a plea for money. "This is literally a crowdsourced channel, which ultimately we hope will have a lot more content on it," said Smith. Towards the end of the episode, Kjellberg urged viewers to tweet host Jimmy Fallon with photos of hang gliders using the hashtag #netglow.

Kjellberg took to Twitter to thank his fans for tuning in to Twitch. The show has been watched by around 64,000 people so far. In comparison, Kjellberg averages more than 1 million views for every video he posts on YouTube. He has more than 54 million subscribers on the site, while the Netglow channel still has around 93,000.

The online personality recently sparked controversy because of his anti-Semitic jokes. In a video posted on YouTube on Monday, however, he vowed to be more “family friendly” while slamming the company’s new advertisement policy. He admitted that since the new policy went into effect, more than a third of his videos were demonetized. The only way to earn income is to make changes on the type of content he shares on his channel.

“No more swearing, no more sexual jokes and definitely no more Hitler jokes. I wish I was joking, I’m not … I’m going to have [to be] family friendly from now on so I don’t go homeless. I love money too much,” Kjellberg says in the video.

PewDiePie rose to fame for his "Let's Play" series in which he played video games with commentary. He topped the list of Forbes’ 2016 Highest-Paid YouTube Stars, having earned $15 million (AU$20 million) last year. To date, he is still one of the most watched and subscribed personalities on the site.

Whether Kjellberg will be successful in Twich remains to be seen. The platform is best known as a site where people live stream themselves while playing video games. Tune in to PewDiePie’s “Best Club” as it goes live every Sunday at 11 AM EST on Twitch’s Netglow channel.
