“Person of Interest” Season 5 nears its end with Episode 10, titled “The Day the World Went Away.” The upcoming episode will show how the past events come full circle.

According to the official synopsis, the Machine will give out Finch’s number after a fatal glitch blows his cover persona. The situation escalates and the team encounters a succession of battles with the Samaritan’s operatives, Spoiler TV reports.

Episode 10 will have great importance for Finch (Michael Emerson). Viewers are speculating what will happen to him now that he does not have a cover identity. The episode gives Finch a taste of how it feels like to be a target on the list. Furthermore, it is said that the Samaritan will turn New York in a war zone. Viewers can expect a lot of action in the episodes leading up to the finale.

It is also speculated that the show runners will do everything to “blow off the doors” for the final season, Carter Matt shares. This will be the time that secrets will be exposed. Characters will be placed in the most challenging situations; more difficult than they have ever been in during the whole show.

This episode will be the hundredth of the series. After airing Season 5, “POI” will reportedly go off the air. Emerson says that the ending of "POI" is satisfying. He further added that a reboot of the show is possible, adding that the writers made the final episode slightly open-ended, making it open for potential continuation. He also teased that the ending will leave the show with little survivors.

The episode was written by Melissa Scrivner Love and Andy Callahan. It is directed by Greg Plageman.
