If the betting lines are to be believed it appears that Katy Perry will be winning her third straight “Favourite Female Artist” award in the upcoming “People’s Choice Awards 2014” set for airing on Wednesday, Jan 8, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

The same betting lines, all from online sportsbook bovada.lv have also identified Justin Timberlake as the probable similar runaway winner in the “Favourite Male Artist” category. Both Perry and Timberlake are the heavy favourites roughly a week before the awarding ceremony.

Odds to Win Favourite Male Artist Award
Avicii (11.0)
Blake Shelton (10.5)
Bruno Mars (4.0)
Justin Timberlake (1.33)
Michael Buble (16.0)

Odds to Win Favourite Female Artist Award
Britney Spears (4.5)
Demi Lovato (11.0)
Katy Perry (1.29)
P!nk (13.0)
Selena Gomez (13.0)

To those unfamiliar with the numbers across their favourite artists name, here’s the simple formula for sports entertainment betting:

X (Amount of Bet) times Betting Odds = Total Payout

This means that Perry and Timberlake have similar payouts if a bettor wagered on them and they indeed win those awards this year. A $100 bet on Perry at 1.29 will earn the bettor a total of $129 or a $29 winnings and the same amount of bet will net $133 (or $33 winnings) on a Timberlake wager.

To compare, the heavy underdogs to challenge them for the titles are Michael Buble (16.0)—payout of $1,600 and Selena Gomez/P!nk (both at 13.0) for a payout of $1,300!

Perry, who released the album “Prism” with the lead single “Roar” in August 2013, knows a thing or two already about winning awards. She has two American Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, twelve People’s Choice Awards and 11 nominations at the Grammys.

Perry was named the “Favourite Female Artist” at the People’s Choice Awards 2012 and 2013.

Meanwhile, the race in the male category has been more open and has seen different winners the past three years; Jason Mraz in 2013, Bruno Mars in 2012 and Eminem in 2011.

Timberlake is on a comeback trail in the music scene. He released the album "The 20/20 Experience" in March 2013 with "Suit and Tie" as the lead single after a five-year hiatus from 2007 to 2012 as the 32-year-old chose to focus on other ventures, including acting.

2014 will be the 40th installment of the annual event and will be hosted this year by Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings of 2 Broke Girls fame. Sara Bareilles and One Republic, among other artists, are set to perform this year.

Other stars are expected to attend, including Christina Aguilera, Jessica Alba, Sandra Bullock, Kaley Cuoco, Ellen DeGeneres, Roma Downey, Marg Helgenberger, Josh Holloway, LL Cool J, Chris O’Donnel and Emily Deschanel among many other popular artists in the entertainment and music business.

All winners for all minor and major categories will be revealed during the live broadcast by the CBS Television Network in the United States.

Think Katy and Justin will indeed win their respective nominations? Why not wager a few dollars on either or both and win some when the winners are announced? Or maybe you’re more of a P!nk or Bruno Mars fan? Voting is still open at the event’s official website and the betting lines are still available for betting as well.
