After a thrilling Season 2 premiere, “Penny Dreadful” is back with “The Devil’s Tongue” (Verbis Diablo) featuring Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) seeking solace with Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton). The psychological thriller is back with a complex story line as eccentric Egyptologist Fernand Lyle reveals the disturbing story behind the “Verbis Diablo.”

While Vanessa is still haunted by the witches, “Penny Dreadful” Season 2, episode 2 also features Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory) as she employs a more strategic way to get closer to Vanessa through Malcolm. The previous episode did not go well as she planned as Vanessa ended up scaring her witches away and forced her into killing one of her own.

Still hungry for revenge, Evelyn knows that she can’t fight Vanessa with both guns blazing and so she attempts to cozy up with Malcom hoping to get more information on how to defeat Vanessa. Using Malcolm’s loneliness and his close connection to the show’s heroine, Evelyn was clever enough to keep Vanessa’s attackers true identity under wraps as she makes sure that she is not drawing any suspension from the former explorer.

Meanwhile, Josh Hartnett who plays the werewolf Ethan Chandler recently revealed that the relationship between Vanessa and Ethan are going to blossom in Season 2. The “Pearl Harbor” star admitted that Ethan loved and wanted to protect Brona (Billie Piper) but there is something hotter and has more need between him and Vanessa.

“Ethan comes to a realization quite early on in the season that he has a feeling for Vanessa that’s much stronger than what he’s felt for a long time,” Hartnett told Spinoff. “It’s fiercer. And from what we’ve done so far this season, it’s been really nice to be able to explore that because I think last season, we sat across card tables. We didn’t touch each other last season.”

Now that the wolf is definitely out of the bag, “Penny Dreadful” fans will get to see who’s actually hunting Ethan down as the show slowly reveals his backstory. The American werewolf will slowly become an open book as he reveals more interesting facts about his mysterious past.

“Penny Dreadful” Season 2 airs every Sunday at 10 P.M. at Showtime. Check out “The Devil’s Tongue” trailer below courtesy of tvpromo.
