The PAX East 2014 is fast closing in, and with a little over a week before the official start, it's best to see what's in store for gamers from Sony and Microsoft.

A number of games have also been recently announced to make an appearance during the event, so those looking to sample some of them should check out this list.

Xbox Panels, Events and Games

There will be a Microsoft Store Xbox Event that will kick off the PAX East. Major Nelson will be there to do a demo of the multiplayer mode of "Fantasia: Music Evolved" and it's a venue where gamers can play unreleased ID@Xbox games. This is a pre-event, so those who didn't manage to land a ticket can still check this out.

Microsoft has announced three panels at the event via Major Nelson's Blog, two of which will be dedicated to the games "Project Spark" and "Titanfall" on April 12 and Major Nelson Radio will also have a panel.

The games that players can sample at the event include "Titanfall," "Kinect Sports Rivals," "Project Spark" (the building game that now has new content for the Xbox One and Windows 8.1), "Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare," ID@Xbox games and Twitch for broadcasting and watching games.

Sony and Nintendo Ditching the Event

Two noticeable absentees for the PAX East 2014 are Microsoft's biggest rivals, Sony and Nintendo, both of which will not be present at the event at all.

Nintendo Life reports that Nintendo will be passing the event, after it had already confirmed via another source of its plans, which exclude participation in the PAX East this year.

"Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn't include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information about where we'll be and what you can play," confirms a Nintendo spokesperson to Polygon, as quoted by the site.

According to the report, this is Nintendo's first time to be absent, but for disappointed fans, they may find comfort in Nintendo indie developers like Renegade Kid, who announced that gamers are welcome to enjoy the "unofficial Nintendo" 3DS lounge.

Ubisoft Plus More Games Coming to PAX East

Even with the absence of Sony and Nintendo, there are a number of playable games for attendees. Polygon reports that Capybara Games will be featuring "Below" for the Xbox One.

"For the first time ever, players will have a chance to dive into the depths of Below. Sit down, put on a pair of headphones, pick up a controller and explore, survive, discover... and then probably die," states the developer.

In addition, Bago Games reports that Ubisoft has already announced its presence in the PAZ East 2014, starting with playable game "Watch Dogs." Attendees can look forward to a never-before-seen demo of "Watch Dogs" as well as the upcoming racer game "The Crew." "Trials Fusion," the follow-up to "Trials Evolution," will also be available to play.

As far as digital titles are concerned, Ubisoft will also be making the likes of "Child of Light," "Tom Clancy's Recon Phantoms" and "The Mighty Quest for Epic" loot available at the event. And for those who are looking for more digital titles, possible reveals may come up at the booth.

Star Citizen will also be making an appearance, as Cloud Imperium announced over the official Web site that backers of the game will have first dibs of what's going to be released.

"The event will take place on April 10th, 2014 from 8 PM to midnight, with Subscribers and Concierge being admitted an hour early (at 7 PM). Attendance does NOT require a PAX badge; the event is Citizens only. The venue holds 1,500 people, so make sure and RSVP early!"
