A passenger of American Airlines Flight 1140 to Dallas got booted out of the plane because he doesn't want the flight crew greeting him a "Merry Christmas."

Josh Freed, a spokesperson for American Airlines, said the commotion started when a gate agent wished him a Merry Christmas as he boarded the American Airlines plane. The unidentified male passenger, who was flying solo, got "irate" over the simple, jolly greeting, enough to even demand the name of the gate agent.

"You shouldn't say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas," the surly passenger said to the gate agent. "Well, what should I say then?" the airline staffer replied. "Don't say, 'Merry Christmas!'" the grumpy passenger snapped before brusquely brushing past the poor attendant.

Unfortunately, the passenger's, err, the airline company's workers' misfortune didn't stop there. Once on board the Boeing 737, the Ebenezer Scrooge-ish passenger received again another jolly, festive greeting from a flight attendant.

Lo and behold, he burst into anger and yelled "Don't say, "Merry Christmas!'" Everyone was stunned. But his drama didn't stop there. He launched into a tirade berating the pilots and the flight crew, the New York Post reports. The flight crew painstakingly tried to control the situation, trying to get him into his seat but the man wouldn't cooperate.

Ultimately, American Airlines decided rather than fly with a live Ebenezer Scrooge-ish person, the flight crew told him to take another plane andhe was escorted off. Other passengers experienced early Christmas, bursting into cheers and giving off a resounding applause.
