Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz has confirmed that a productive discussion has transpired between his client and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. following the pair’s meeting at the Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA game on Jan. 27. Koncz admitted that he is now feeling more comfortable than ever that the mega-buck Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will finally come to fruition.

Koncz has revealed that he and Pacquiao had a brief meeting with Mayweather after the basketball game. The Canadian adviser is looking optimistic that Pacquiao and Mayweather will soon come to terms in contract negotiations for the much-anticipated super fight in the history of boxing in recent years.

“At this point in time, I feel very comfortable,” Koncz told Ben Thompson of Fight Hype when asked if he sees anything that might further prevent the fight from taking place. “Again, we have the utmost respect for Floyd, we give him all the credit in the world.”

According to Koncz, Mayweather came over to talk to them after the game. He said that the meeting was a pleasant experience and a productive one. Koncz regarded Mayweather as a professional, polite, and cordial human being.

A portion of the little discussion included several issues, but Koncz refused to elaborate further out of respect for Mayweather. However, he mentioned that one of Mayweather’s concerns is the broadcasting of the fight. As everyone knows, Mayweather has an exclusive contract with Showtime, while Pacquiao is associated with HBO. Koncz said that he was informed that the issues concerning the TV networks that will air the potential fight have already been taken care of.

Despite the occasional verbal spats and social media jabs, Pacquiao and Mayweather had never met face-to-face before their meeting at the basketball game. The unplanned meeting was probably as close as Pacquiao and Mayweather would come to fight.

Pacquiao and Mayweather were sitting courtside during the basketball game although directly opposite of each other. Both fighters were shown on the video screens during a first-half stoppage in play with the caption that read “Coming in 2015?”

During the halftime break, Mayweather walked over at Pacquiao’s seat. The undefeated fighter and Pacquiao along with Koncz had a little conversation. It has been reported that the fighters exchanged phone numbers. Sources said that Mayweather took it a point to be in attendance during the game when he heard the Pacquiao will be there.

It does look like Pacquiao and Mayweather are on their way for the long-awaited super fight. Some stumbling blocks such as purse split and venue have already been resolved. As Koncz has revealed, it seems that Showtime and HBO are going to be airing the super fight for a joint pay-per-view. It is expected that an announcement will be made by the end of January.
