“Outlander” TV series creator and executive producer Ron Moore and cast member Sam Heughan appeared in a new video to talk about Jamie’s home at Lallybroch. The video takes the viewers behind the scenes on the production set of the show. [Spoiler alert]

The video appears to have aired in Canada, with Sam Heughan appearing first to introduce the video. Ron Moore walks the viewers through the rest of the video and describes some of the challenges the crew members of the series faced while preparing the set for Jamie’s home.

The focus has now shifted from Castle Leoch to Lallybroch, where the two lead characters Jamie and Claire have travelled to recently. Ron Moore explains that they had to scout the locations used in the first two episodes of the “Outlander” TV series, where Lallybroch was shown.

The second episode of the “Outlander” series featured a flashback sequence where Jamie attempts to protect the honour of his sister and gets flogged by Jack Randall. The flogging scene only showed the exterior of Lallybroch and the viewers did not get to see the interior of Jamie’s home in the episode at that time.

Now that episode 12 and the future episodes will use Lallybroch extensively, Ron Moore and the crew of “Outlander” had to get the interiors of the set ready for the show. Describing the challenges for the crew, Ron Moore pointed out the work that had to be done for the production set.

“The interior of that particular building had not been cared for in many years,” Ron Moore said in the video. He further explained that the building didn’t even have floors, which made it difficult for the crew members to shoot scenes in the building. The interiors of the house, seen in the “Outlander” TV series, were apparently built at the studio at Cumbernauld, Scotland.

The producers chose the location, despite all its limitations, because it “fit the mental image” the team had of Lallybroch. The two major characters at Jamie’s home are his sister Jenny and her husband Ian. Jenny had been running the estate till the return of her brother.

Laura Donnelly, the actress who plays Jenny, knew Sam Heghan before the show, Ron Moore revealed. The two actors are said to have gone to school together. The executive producer described the actress as having a “spark of fire” that was needed for the character in the “Outlander” Series.
