Claire will be back to her normal self in “Outlander” Season 3. Cast member Caitriona Balfe revealed in a recent interview that her character will be just like what she was when she was in Scotland many years ago. The character went through a lot in the previous season, and this had dramatically altered her personality.

[Spoiler alert]

After losing her child and the love of her life, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) had to face her first husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) in the last season. She also had to raise Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) daughter without telling her about her real father. All the traumatic experiences left a deep scar in her heart, and when the viewers saw her as an older woman- she was changed.

But, after Claire found out that Jamie survived the Battle of Culloden; the fire in her heart was rekindled. In an interview with Variety, Balfe confirmed that the audience is now ready to get back to the “Scottish Claire” that the fans love and adore.

The transformation of Claire in “Outlander” Season 3 may be a gradual one. The fans will get to see the challenges she faced while she was in Boston with her first husband and her daughter.

The most highly anticipated scene in the next season is the reunion of Jamie and Claire. The challenge there is that over the years the two characters have evolved into different people. But, the core of the personality that attracted them to each other is still there; buried deep inside all the pain and grief they have suffered without each other. They will now fall in love with each other all over again, as they explore how the years have changed them.

Balfe pointed out how her character is a fighter and a survivor. But, she has shelved a part of her for 20 years. That passion, romance and sexuality will be unleashed in “Outlander” Season 3 after she reunites with Jamie.
