In just two seasons, the fans have come to love Murtagh. He is a loyal friend, advisor and ally of Jamie. He has been through the tough times with the Frasers and also made the viewers laugh with his dancing routine and his distaste for French outfits.

While in France he offered his help to the plans of the Frasers. When Claire (Caitriona Balfe) was attacked, he took it personally and made good on his promise by delivering the head of the master mind of the attack - Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow).

Will the fans have to now say goodbye to their beloved character? It should be noted that the writers have changed many things in the TV series, so the British taking Murtagh prisoner instead of killing him is still a remote possibility.
