Jamie and Claire will not be the only older characters in “Outlander” season 3. The Starz TV show will also bring back Laoghaire MacKenzie. In a recent interview, Nell Hudson teased about her character, and talked about the show. The following article contains minor spoilers.

In an interview with The Celebrity Café, Hudson (Laoghaire MacKenzie) said that her character will be “older” this year. The character has apparently “been through a lot,” and she has two daughters now. “And she’s sort of, I think, emboldened with age,” she teased.

Laoghaire appeared very briefly in the previous season, but her presence was important to remind the fans of her. The fans of the book series were surprised to find the character on the show, as she is not featured in the second book by Diana Gabaldon. But, the writers included her because the character is back in the third book “Voyager,” on which the plot is based this year.

Hudson is not allowed to reveal too much about the plot or scenes of “Outlander” season 3, but she does have a picture she is ready to share with the fans. The actress will only release the picture once the TV series starts to air, she said.

While she may not reveal any spoilers, Hudson was willing to speculate on how things would have panned out for her character if Claire (Caitriona Balfe) didn’t come along. The actress said that Jamie (Sam Heughan) has tenderness for her character, and the Scotsman is a hero for Laoghaire. So, the two could have ended up together.

Laoghaire and Claire were not on good terms because of the formers actions, but the two patched things up in season 2. However, the episode also revealed how Hudson’s character still had feelings for Jamie. The next season will explore how that has an impact on the storyline.

As far as the premiere of the next season is concerned, while the fans know the show will return in September, the exact air date is still not known. Hudson refused to comment on the subject, as this is something Starz will have to announce.

While a section of the cast and crew are currently in South Africa to continue filming “Outlander” season 3, others are done with their work. Tobias Menzies (Jack/Frank) and Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall Fraser) celebrated their birthdays recently. Heughan and Co-executive Producer Maril Davis wished the two cast members.
