Sam Heughan will be seen wielding a bow and arrow in “Outlander” season 3, the actor revealed in a special Q & A session with fellow cast member Caitriona Balfe. The actors answered some fan questions as a way of thanking them for the victories at the People’s Choice Awards.

When one of the fans asked the actors about their favourite prop on the show, Balfe (Claire) suggested that it is easier for her fellow cast member to answer the question because he likes his swords. Heughan (Jamie), however, revealed that he is getting a bow and arrow this time around in addition to the swords that he is normally given. The actor admitted that he revealed a spoiler, and added that the prop is “really cool.”

Balfe prefers the 1960s car that they have been using in the flashback scenes of Boston. The two actors have been filming separately for “Outlander” season 3, and will eventually have a reunion scene. When asked about the Print Shop scene, Balfe downplayed the excitement and said that the scene was “alright,” and Heughan agreed.

The two actors then got serious and Balfe pointed out that this is a “huge moment” for Claire. Heughan said that the reunion was a bit of a “surprise” for Jamie, but Balfe called it a “shock.”

A day after the reunion “all hell breaks loose and his world is turned upside down,” Heughan revealed about Jamie. When asked about his favourite scene this time around, the actor said that most of this season has been filming without his fellow cast member. Balfe was quick to stop him and said that that’s not true. The actress may be aware of fans’ concern about not getting enough Jamie and Claire romance this year. The actress asked the fans not to “freak out.”

One of the fans wanted to know if both the actors had read the third book titled “Voyager.” Balfe confirmed that she has read the book, and has plans to read one book per season, as she doesn’t want to read too much ahead of time. Heughan on the other hand did not confirm how much he has read, but pointed out that Diana Gabaldon has read some really long books.

There will be a new Chinese character in “Outlander” season 3, and Heughan teased the possibility of Jamie and Claire speaking Chinese. “Ni Hao,” which means “how are you,” are the only words Balfe has learnt so far. The two actors will be starting filming the Caribbean scenes soon, and they both said that they are willing to try some weed at that time. Balfe added that the weed smoking will be purely for “medicinal purposes.”
