The cameras have finally started to roll for “Outlander” Season 3, Executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts revealed on Twitter. Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe teased what can be expected from their characters in a recent interview.

Roberts apologised for his long absence and explained that he had been busy preparing for Season 3. The producer revealed that the production for the show has begun and shared a new behind the scenes picture of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from the previous season.

In a previous interview with Variety, Heughan said that there are a lot challenges on the show as the story moves forward. The actor pointed out that there is a period of time when Jamie and Claire will be apart, and the Scotsman will think that he has lost her forever. He knows that she is alive and well, but she is living somewhere in the future.

The show will now explore questions like who is Jamie without the love of his life? What is he living for? What sort of a man has he become in her absence?

Claire will eventually return to Scotland in “Outlander” Season 3. But now the two characters are older. Balfe felt that the reunion of Jamie and Claire will be the most exciting event on the show this time around. The two characters now have a chance to rediscover each other and fall in love all over again.

Balfe said that both the characters have placed each other on a pedestal, and they have to breakdown that mental image in order to fall in love with the person in front of each of them.

However, the love of Jamie and Claire is not the only aspect in “Outlander” Season 3. Balfe hopes the fans will get to see some progression of her character as a mother. So, as the fans have already seen Claire in her 20s and flash-forward to her 50s; they may now get to see some stories that take place in between.
