Clive Russell will play the role of Jamie Fraser’s grandfather in “Outlander” Season 2. The actor is one of many new cast members who will be seen next year, as the story takes the lead characters to France.

Starz announced on the official Facebook page of the TV series that Russell will be playing the role of Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) “manipulative grandfather.” The announcement points out that the character Lord Lovat is also known as “The Old Fox.”

The Facebook post has over 13,000 “likes” and about 700 shares. Commenting on the announcement, many of the fans said that they loved the casting. Some of the fans also talked about their favourite scenes from the book series involving the new character that they would like to see on the show.

Russell is a veteran Hollywood actor who has been in many popular movies like the Antonio Banderas starrer “The 13th Warrior,” Robert Downey Jr. Starrer “Sherlock Holmes” and “Thor: The Dark World.” The actor is also a cast member of the popular fantasy TV series “Game of Thrones,” in which he plays the role of Brynden “Blackfish” Tully and is expected to reprise his role in Season 6 of the show.

Many new French actors will be joining the cast this time around in the “Outlander” TV series. According to a report by AccessHollywood, another new cast member is Frances de la Tour, who will play the role of Mother Hildegarde.

The other new cast members of the TV series include Lionel Lingelser (Louis XV), Laurence Dobiesz (Alex Randall), Rosie Day (Mary Hawkins), Andrew Gower (Bonnie Prince Charlie), Dominique Pinon (Master Raymond), Stanley Weber (Comte St. Germain) and Robert Cavanah will be playing Jamie’s cousin Jared Fraser.

Filming for “Outlander” Season 2 is currently ongoing. The next season is expected to premiere sometime in March or April 2016. The producers have so far not committed an exact release date.
