The casting for “Outlander” Season 2 continues, even though several episodes of the next season have already been filmed and trailers have already been released. Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore has revealed in a recent interview that a major new character will be introduced towards the end of the season.

[Spoiler alert]

Moore is “very close” to casting Brianna, he revealed in an interview with Zap2It. According to the books written by Diana Gabaldon, on which the show is based on, Brianna is the daughter of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe).

“We might have found some candidates. I think we might be really closing in on somebody. I’m confident that we have a Brianna,” Moore said. He later added that the character will not be seen until the later part of the next season. The character will be introduced when the 1968 storyline begins, which will be towards the end of the season.

A recently released trailer of “Outlander” Season 2, which was only shown at the 2016 TCA winter press tour, showed that Frank (Tobias Menzies) will return in the next season. The trailer has so far not been released to the fans.

According to a report by Zap2It, the trailer shows that Claire will be back to her own timeline in the next season and will be with Frank. The trailer shows her waking up near the magical Craigh na Dun stones, which had transported her back in time in the first season. She later finds out that she has returned to 1948.

The “Outlander” Season 2 trailer also shows Claire with Jamie in 1740s Paris. The two will be seen together at parties at the king’s palace. The main objective of the two characters in the next season is to change the course of history and stop the Jacobite rebellion.
