Its the 84th annual Academy Awards and tinsel towns biggest and brightest stars put on their best look forward as they gather at the red carpet arrivals.

Michelle Williams, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Berenice Bejo and Jennifer Lopez are among the early birds who arrived at this year's Oscar Awards. Undoubtedly all eyes would be on the best and the worst dresses at the red carpet and these stars prepare months prior to the awards night, keen on big to small details from head to toe.

Michelle Williams who arrived at the red carpet with an eye popping red Louis Vuitton gown was flawless as she was Oscars after Oscars. Rooney Mara looked breezy in a plunging Givenchy gown, so far from her look as Lisbeth Salander from the movie "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." Jennifer Lopez looked sleek and polished in a silver body-hugging Zuhair Muhad gown.

A-list actresses who were present includes Gwyneth Paltrow wore a white Tom Ford gown, Angelina Jolie in a thigh slit Atelier Versace black velvet gown and the fabulous Meryl Streep in a metallic Lanvin gown. Fashion trend at the red carpet for this year inlcuded sleek and flowy gowns with minimal jewelries and accesories.

Billy Crystal would be hosting this night's Academy Awards after Eddie Murphy bowed out. It will be brodcasted live by ABC at 8:30 p.m. EST.
