At the 86th Academy Awards, Cate Blanchett won the best actress trophy for the movie "Blue Jasmine," beating "Gravity's" Sandra Bullock. The loss, however, did not dislodge Sandra Bullock from the Oscar 2014 best dress list. She looked classy and elegant in a navy blue Alexander McQueen gown. The wavy hair, the smoky eye-make-up and Lorraine Schwartz jewels added oomph to the classy, elegant look.

The winner, Cate Blanchett, turned out in a nude Giorgio Armani gown, having intricate sequins work. In an interview with Huffington Post, the actress said that her dress is "heavy" but she loves it. She looked like a winner for sure. Jennifer Lawrence, 23, tripped down at the red carpet, but that did not diminish the hotness of her strapless, Dior frock gown. She looked stunning and chic.

Kate Hudson arrived at Oscar 2014 looking like a diva from the pages of past. She wore a low-cut, cleavage showing Atelier Versace gown. Emma Hudson killed it in a see-through metallic Vera Wang gown. She carried the simple yet gorgeous look to perfection.

Lupita Nyong won the best supporting actress award for the best movie of 2014 "12 Years a Slave." The actress did not disappoint in the dress and look department. She wore a cool ice blue silk Prada gown. "It's a colour that just lets her skin shine," said Hal Rubenstein, editor at large of InStyle magazine, as quoted by Yahoo News.

Amy Adams turned-up for the Oscar night in a Gucci gown. She looked elegance personified in sapphire-colour, strapless gown. Charlize Theron dazzled in a Dior gown. She was also wearing $15 million worth of Harry Winston diamonds.

"Everyone is dressing very kind of Audrey Hepburn classic. Nobody was doing anything too out there. It's more about the fact that this is the way to look good, rather than for shock value," Rubenstein said to Yahoo News. "People just want to look beautiful and be noticed for themselves."
