After teasing that the filming of “The Orville” season 2 will wrap soon, that day has finally arrived. Director Jon Cassar has shared two new pictures from the production set online, and announced that this is from the last day of the filming.

A beautiful set of the bridge of the ship has been constructed for the TV series, and Cassar teased a picture on Instagram of a scene that was filmed on this set on the last day [see below]. Some of the cast members in full costume can be seen in the picture, along with a few crew members who are assisting just before the cameras begin to roll.

The first scene that was filmed on the last day was actually shot at an outdoor location. The picture Cassar shared on Instagram was taken on the Fox backlot. It remains to be seen what this location will be standing in for on the show.

Since this is the last day of the filming, the producers should announce the wrap soon. It remains to be seen if some pictures from a wrap party also make it online.

With the filming complete, the TV series will now move into the postproduction phase of development. There had been some concerns by the fans about when season 2 will air, with some previous reports suggesting that it could be by mid 2019. Executive Producer Seth MacFarlane too had said there was a lot of work left at that time. However, with the producers managing to get the filming out of the way as per schedule, the show is set to return on time.

“The Orville” season 2 is set to premiere on Dec. 30. The first look pictures and a trailer can be expected in the coming weeks, as soon as the producers can put together some of the scenes after getting the computer graphics right.
