The filming of “The Orville” season 2 may wrap soon. Director Jon Cassar has shared another behind-the-scenes picture from the production set online and said that they will be done with the filming duties soon.

Cassar has been keeping the fans engaged these past few months by teasing pictures from the production set and keeping everyone updated on the progress of season 2. His most recent post on Instagram comes with an announcement along with the picture.

“Shooting on the 2nd season of #TheOrville coming to an end,” Cassar wrote in the post. It isn’t clear if he meant his work on the show is complete or if the filming for the show itself will wrap soon. Given that the TV series has been filming for a while now, it is safe to assume that the cast and crew members may enjoy a wrap party soon.

Cassar previously shared a behind-the-scenes picture from the production set on Instagram, showing the filming of a scene. The picture was taken from some distance, and it only shows the crew members watching the filming on the screens in a dark room while the actors work on a stage.

All the fan favourite characters will be returning in season 2. The cast members include Seth MacFarlane (Captain Ed Mercer), Adrianne Palicki (Kelly Grayson), Scott Grimes (Gordon Malloy), Penny Johnson Jerald (Dr. Claire), Halston Sage (Alara Kitan), Peter Macon (Bortus), Mark Jackson (Isaac), and J. Lee (John LaMarr).

After the filming wraps, the TV series will move into the post production phase of development. Season 2 is set to premiere on Dec. 30. The producers are yet to announce the plot of the next season.

There will be a total of 14 episodes in “The Orville” season 2. The show is expected to continue with the same humorous tone, but there may be a few experimental episodes as well.
