[Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers from season finale of “Orphan Black” Season 3 and also upcoming Season 4, read at your own risk]

The final moments of “Orphan Black” Season 3 featured a picture-perfect scene of Sarah (Tatania Maslany) and Kira (Skyler Wexler) playing in the snow while Ms. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and the original clone, Kendall Malone (Alison Steadman), watching them with a smile. The new season, however, is going to bring a new set of challenges for Sarah and her clone sisters.

The final episode, titled “History Yet to be Written,” also saw the death of scar-faced Rudy (Ari Millen) and in the final moments, Delphine (Evelyn Brochu) was shot in the stomach. It revealed that the presumed-dead Susan Duncan (Rosemary Dunsmore) was alive and Rachel was recuperating under her care. She welcomed her adopted daughter home and expected her to raise the little sister-clone Charlotte (Cynthia Galant) as a mother. Also in the episode Helena was reunited with her boyfriend Jesse (Patrick J. Adams) and Alison won the school election.

Speaking about the appearance of Ms. Duncan in season finale, co-creator of “Orphan Black” Graeme Manson told The Hollywood Reporter (THR), “We opened the door for an interesting story about Rachel, and another side of the mystery. If she's with Susan Duncan, she's with the only surviving creator. So that's the mystery moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Neolution was introduced as the new foe at the end of “Orphan Black” Season 3. Manson said that it is the new kind of enemy that is everywhere and at the same time, nowhere. Co-creator John Fawcett told Entertainment Weekly (EW) that they expect to see more of Neolution in “Orphan Black” Season 4.

The just concluded season of “Orphan Black” introduced a number of male clones and most of them were killed off by the end of the season, except Mark. Manson said that Ari Millen, who played the various male clones, is returning in “Orphan Black” Season 4. Also clone Krystal will be returning next season, and one may see her finding out about her clone identity. And speaking about Sarah, Manson said to THR that she now has the responsibility of protecting her family, which includes the original clone.

“Orphan Black” Season 4 will also try to figure out how Malone’s genetic material would help Leda clones, especially Cosima. And Fawcett almost confirmed to EW that Delphine is dead. He said that in their minds Cosima and Delphine’s love story always had a tragic end. EW has quoted Fawcett as saying “… this was a necessary move to make. And its necessary in Cosima’s story and it’s necessary going forward in subsequent seasons -- in season 4 and season 5.”
