The arrival of new faces in "The Originals" Season 2 is just getting started. The latest casting reports revealed that "Scandal" actress Debra Mooney will be making an appearance in the CW spinoff series soon as a tough werewolf matriarch named Mary.

According to a TV Line report, the 67-year-old actress got cast as a recurring character in "The Originals" Season 2. Debra Mooney will be making her first appearance as Mary in the upcoming untitled episode 11 of the CW TV series.

The report described the new character as a tough and extremely protective matriarch of a werewolf family in New Orleans. Furthermore, Mary will do anything in order to protect the members of her werewolf clan.

Mooney's work credits include "Everwood," where she portrayed character Edna Harper from 2002 to 2006, and "Scandal" as Supreme Court Justice Verna Thornton. The actress also had recurring roles in other TV series such as "Arrested Development," "Boston Legal" and "The Practice."

A Carter Matt report speculates Debra Mooney's character in "The Originals" Season 2 could be another enemy of the Mikaelson siblings, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) or Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) since the character is now a vampire-werewolf hybrid like Klaus.

Debra Mooney is not the only new cast member in the new season of the hit CW TV series. Since "The Originals" Season 2 premiered on Monday night, Oct. 6, the fans have already met a couple of new faces such as Cassie/Esther (Natalie Dreyfuss), Vincent/Finn Mikaelson (Yusuf Gatewood), Kaleb/Kol Mikaelson (Daniel Sharman), newbie vampire Gia (Nishi Munshi) and Lenore/Esther (Sonja Sohn).

More new faces are set to make an appearance in "The Originals" Season 2. The next episode titled "Live and Let Die" will introduce a new werewolf character named Aiden portrayed by "Devious Maids" actor Colin Woodell.

In episode 5 titled "Red Door," the viewers will meet another new character but a familiar face will be portraying the part. "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev will be making a guest appearance on the show through flashback scenes where she portrays the Original doppelganger Tatia.

"The Originals" Season 2 airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
