Published by Nexon, “MapleStory: is a popular massive multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, and is completely free to play, though store purchases are also available. Unlike most games of the genre, “MapleStory” is completely 2D, from the character sprites to the combat, and has more similarities with a side scroller rather than a typical role-playing game. Still, the game has a big fan base, and a recent announcement has stated that the game will be having a special level based on one of the most popular animes of recent memory: “Attack on Titan.”

Players level 30 and up get to travel through a mysterious portal, which leads to the dystopian nightmare that the anime is set in. According to Comic Book Resources, fans will be able to join characters from the anime like Eren and Mikasa as they try to take down the deadly titans who have been rampaging their home.

Kotaku reports that this themed content will let players hone their skills and compete in thrilling mini games. The “MapleStory” website gives more details, as players can actually join the cadet corps from the popular anime and rise up the ranks to fight the deadly titans. The “Attack on Titan” crossover will also have exclusive items and weapons for players interested in the expansion, though they will have to be purchased through the cash shop, all of which is available now on PC.

“Attack on Titan” has garnered worldwide popularity and is considered one of the best animes out right now. The second season is set to air on Japan in 2016 and will continue the adventures of Eren and his motley crew of Titan fighters. The series has a reputation for being unpredictable, as many characters have died unexpectedly throughout the anime and manga. It appears that the same thing can be said about the franchise in general. However, this isn’t the oddest cross the anime has done as there is a short comic that will be available on Free Comic Book Day, which features the Marvel superheroes taking on those nasty titans.
