A low-end version of the OnePlus 2 flagship dubbed as OnePlus 2 Mini is also expected to release later this year. While all eyes are set on the highly anticipated OnePlus 2 that is confirmed to release on July 27, it seems that this won’t be the only phone from the same manufacturer to be launched this year.

A recent report from Android Pit indicates that the OnePlus 2 mini will be rolled out with a price tag of around $300 or lower. In comparison, the OnePlus 2 flagship is going to be priced under $450. The OnePlus 2 with low-end specs will be aimed towards competing with other midrange phones like the Moto G (2015).

The publication has a consistent track record of revealing alleged features of unreleased smartphones. It claims that the OnePlus 2 mini release date is set to happen after the arival of OnePlus 2 flagship.

Since the OnePlus 2 Mini will be a midrange model, it will not come with high-end specs of OnePlus 2. So, OnePlus fans should not be expecting the OnePlus 2 to feature a Quad HD display and fingerprint scanner on the device. However, like the OnePlus 2, the mini edition will be powered by the OxygenOS.

At the end of 2014, the rumor mill claimed that the cheaper variant of OnePlus One dubbed as OnePlus One mini would be rolled out. The publication further claims that a purported image of the OnePlus One mini had surfaced. The device was expected to be priced at sub-$250.

It is not known whether the OnePlus One has been axed or it never existed. Also, since the price of the OnePlus One has been recently reduced to $249, it is unlikely another variant of the device with the same price tag will be rolled out, claims Android Pit. Since the OnePlus One had arrived with high performance hardware and an attractive entry price, OnePlus had tagged it as the "flagship killer' in the previous year. This year too, its successor model, the OnePlus 2 will feature high-end specs in order to pit against the rival flagships from major brands.

OnePlus has confirme that the OnePlus 2 flagship will arive with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 v2.1 edition processor which has been modified to prevent overheating issues. The SoC will be supported by 4 GB of RAM.

The Chinese smartphone maker has also revealed that the handset will sport a premium metal body flanked with a fingerprint scanner on its rear. It is expected to feature 5.5 inches screen with support for full HD resolution and will come packed with a huge battery of 3,300, claims GSM Arena.
