Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have spoken up about the recent rumours of One Direction splitting in March 2016. The singers took to their Twitter page to address the news and confirmed that the boys will take a break next year.

In a series of tweets, Horan made it clear that One Direction will not be splitting in 2016 but will be taking a well-deserved break or hiatus, as what the news initially mentioned. Horan also tweeted his assurance that the band will continue to perform for their fans around the world and promised to reveal some new songs as their tour continues. However, he didn’t confirm any split among the band members.

Louis Tomlinson, however, “promised” and told fans not to worry since One Direction is not splitting up next year as what the rumours suggest. The soon-to-be-father also took to his Twitter page to thank fans for their endless support.

Rumours of One Direction splitting up in 2016 spread like wildfire on Sunday after a source revealed to The Sun that the band will be taking a long hiatus to focus on their solo projects. However, the unnamed source insisted that One Direction will not be splitting up since “they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future.”

“The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boy band. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100% behind the decision,” the source revealed.

It’s believed One Direction will not be touring to perform their fifth album, according to The Guardian, so it’s likely that their last concert before their extended hiatus will be at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on Oct. 31.

This well-deserved break for the band has reportedly been planned out even before Zayn Malik left. It’s believed the meeting and decision was finalised in London last weekend. One Direction is expected to still work together until February so they can fulfill their record label commitments.

In March, One Direction also dismissed rumours that the band will split after Malik’s exit. They promised to remain intact as a group and continue with their tours.
