One Direction star Liam Payne looked so fed up with interacting with his Australian fans. A new online clip shows the 21-year-old English singer looking miserable while taking selfies with his fans in Sydney, only smiling when he was in front of a camera.

The Vine clip sees Payne showing signs of fatigue as he faces excited fans outside the ARIA Awards on Wednesday. It has been re-vined over 2,000 times and liked more than 4,000 times since it was uploaded.

What commenters found funny about the clip is the quick way Payne has switched two faces, from a grumpy one to a friendly smile. As they said, it appeared that Payne was fed up of his life as an international pop star. Others observed that the young crooner has been faking smiles, barely even looking at the fans who have asked for a selfie and instead just went on an automatic pop star mode in front of the camera.

Payne was quick to deny that he was a fake, explaining that smiling all the time is just tiring. He posted a series of tweets on Twitter to defend himself from the accusation.

Lots of people saying I was 'faking' smiles with fans yesterday ...
