The British boy band, One Direction, definitely made sparks fly during the Olympic Closing Ceremony 2012 in London. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne took the stage along with the Spice Girls an a whole lot more.

With over seventeen days of extreme sports plus incredibly good-looking athletes, ending the event meant it needed an epic set-up of only the best British performers. The last 17 days can be wrapped up to these: David Beckham still manages to make ladies swoon, Ryan Lochte emerged as the most promising candidate for reality TV and Gabby Douglas surely made history.

Of course, ending the event had to go with the same bang. Proving that the British way is the best way to go, British bands of old and new generation along with the Royal family and not to mention sexy and half a dozen supermodels were in attendance.

Emeli Sande opened the closing ceremony by singing on top of a truck which was plastered in newspapers. After which, the whole set of performers covered in bunched up newspapers also appeared. Madness sang their hit song "Our House" and the Pet Shop Boys rode out on bikes singing "West End Girls".

The boys of One Direction were not ones to fail. Niall, Zayn, Harry, Liam and Louis went on stage to sing their epic hit, "What Makes You Beautiful" which earned a lot of screaming both from athletes and fans. Covering the Beatles, Russell Brand also made a grand appearance complete with a top hat.

The best performance of the night may be easily won by the boys of One Direction but set alongside the ever powerful ladies of Spice Girls it would be obvious who won. A Spice Girls reunion that has been awaited for so long, Sporty, Baby, Ginger, Scary and Posh all turned up for a special performance singing "Spice Up Your Life" and "Wannabe".

The Olympics for 2012 has now ended and it'll be a while before hot athletes take up the time again. For those who haven't had the time to check out the closing ceremony where the boys of One Direction pumped up the stage, take a look at the video below.
