“If you’re going to be the Dark One, gotta learn from the best,” “OUAT” executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz teased in the EW report. The past seasons of the show revealed that the Dark One also trained the Evil Queen/Regina Mills, played by Lana Parrilla.

According to another report from EW, Robert Carlyle teased about an interesting story twist for Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Carlyle explained that Mr. Gold is in a coma but not Rumplestiltskin.

“Gold’s got a white heart, Rumple doesn’t. It’s a different thing,” Carlyle added in the EW report.

Aside from Mr. Gold’s situation in the ABC series, Carlyle also talked about his character’s relationship with Belle, played by Emilie de Ravin. Carlyle teased that the “OUAT” fans will be seeing the Rumplestiltskin-Belle or “Rumbelle” storyline in the second half of the new season.

“It's pretty hard to communicate because he's in a coma,” co-star Emilie de Ravin joked about Mr. Gold’s situation in a Popsugar interview at the 2015 Comic-Con. Meanwhile, Carlyle also admitted in the Popsugar interview that he would be surprised if the writers let the “Rumbelle” relationship go given that the couple’s marriage has been on the rocks because of Rumplestiltskin’s love for power in “Once Upon a Time” Season 4.
