'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 spoilers: Emma Swan meets Merida in new sneak peek video [WATCH]

ABC Television Network’s sneak peek video from the premiere episode of “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 teases an important moment in the fairy tale drama series. The sneak peek video shows how OUAT character Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) crossed paths with new character Merida (Amy Manson).

In the sneak peek video, Emma tries to catch a wisp but Merida beat her to it. Merida thinks Emma is a witch but the latter explains she is just cursed with dark magic and she needs the wisp to get rid of the darkness in her.

Merida reveals that she also needs the wisp for her kingdom and family. To solve the problem, Merida suggests that the two of them have a fair fight without the use of magic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), “Once Upon a Time” series creator Edward Kitsis talked about the new “Brave” character in the ABC series at a recent screening. “If you watch the movie Brave, you realize that Merida's problem [is] she punches first and asks questions second,” Kitsis said in a THR report.

Kitsis teased that the OUAT fans will continue to see this trait of Merida in “Once Upon a Time” Season 5. Kitsis further shared that the viewers will find Merida in the middle of a very intense situation in the new season.

The show will also explore on Merida’s story and take the OUAT fans to Dunbroch to meet her parents, Queen Elinor and King Fergus, through flashback scenes. Meanwhile, OUAT cast member Jennifer Morrison teased what the fans can expect with Emma Swan as the new Dark One in “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 in an interview with Access Hollywood.

Morrison revealed her character is in a bad place and a lot will go on because of this new challenge. “There's no limit to the bizarre things that she's coming up against and the changes that are within her,” Morrison shared.

Morrison further teased that everything will be very different for Emma Swan because the Dark One always lie, manipulate and hurt people. “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 will premiere on Sunday night, Sept. 27, at 8/7c on ABC.
