“Once Upon A Time” Season 4 is getting closer to its finale. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) are making some progress in their Operation Mongoose with Henry (Jared S. Gilmore). Their mission has led them to Lily (Agnes Bruckner), but there are more problems to fix.

Spoiler alert: This update contains “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 spoilers. Read on at your own risk.

Episode 20 (“Lily”) of “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 opens the season-ender story with connection to the last one standing among the Queens of Darkness – Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten). Emma and Maleficent’s daughter Lily are reunited, and they are now headed back to Storybrooke.

Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) were the reasons why Lily wound up in Minnesota from the Enchanted Forest. Lily was on a path to vengeance when Emma and Regina found her. It remains to be seen how she’d react once she meets Snow/Mary Margaret and Charming/David.

Regina discovers a shocker toward the end of OUAT 4x20. Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and Zelena (Rebecca Mader) are having a baby. This is the reason why Regina’s trip to New York is not successful. Now Regina has to face The Author/Isaac (Patrick Fischler) to advance Operation Mongoose.

Episode 21 of “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 is titled “Mother.” This episode brings back Regina’s mother, Cora (Barbara Hershey). The story on the Dark One/Gold’s (Robert Carlyle) is also developing. Everyone is expected to be back in Storybrooke for this weekend’s new episode.

Isaac needs to find some magic ink. As of episode 20, however, the extent of his power and magic remains unclear. Eddy Kitsis, co-showrunner of “Once Upon A Time,” told TVLine these recent plot lines will lead to an OUAT finale in which the overarching situation in the characters’ lives will change.

"Nobody is coming out of an urn and freezing people," co-showrunner Adam Horowitz told the website in the same interview. In this sense, “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 could remind fans of how things wrapped up in the OUAT Season 1 finale.

Episode 21 will be followed by a 2-hour OUAT season finale on May 10. This year’s “Once Upon A Time” Season 4 finale is called “Operation Mongoose” (Parts 1 and 2).
