Green Beans with Mouse Parts

Are green beans more attractive to insects and animals compared to other vegetables? After Mormon church members were shocked in mid-February when they discovered a severed snake head inside a can of Western Family green beans, an Oklahoma couple found a mouse head and leg, also inside the can of Best Choice green beans on Sunday.

Andrew and Chelsea Bellwether, from Midwest City, were preparing Easter potluck for their church when they found the mouse parts inside Best Choice green beans. The couple, youth pastors, says they were disturbed by the discovery and worried if the other unopened green beans cans, out of the eight they purchased from Crest Foods on Saturday night, would also have dead rodent parts inside, reports The New York Daily News.

Chelsea recalls that they started opening the cans and placing contents inside the crock pot. When they opened the fourth can, Andrew noticed something dumped into the crock pot. “It was a mouse head … I just noticed there was something black in the green beans and was like that’s not normal,” Daily Mail quotes Andrew.

The pair took photos of the can’s contents, kept the mouse as evidence and working so that Best Choice would get a copy of the picture. Following the incident, Best Choice pulled out all its green beans from Oklahoma stores while conducting an investigation.

The Belwethers saved the potluck dinner by using baked beans. But they still worry that other cans of vegetables could possibly contain dead mouse parts. “It could be in one of the other cans on my counter, it could be at Crest, it could be in someone’s pantry … It’s really kind of grotesque,” adds Andrews.

The couple tried to contact Best Choice but could not get through customer service. So they just kept the can as proof.
