Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware update for HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play Editions was supposed roll out this week but has been postponed due to Google's request. Apparently, Google is requesting for another software version and HTC awaits approval before the update can be released officially.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Delayed For HTC One M8 And HTC One M7 Google Play Editions

Owners of the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play Editions will have to wait a little longer to get the official Android 5.0 Lollipop software update. HTC Vice President for Product Management, Mo Versi, sent out a tweet regarding the delay of Android 5.0 for HTC One GPEs. Google seems to have requested a new software version for the devices and HTC is waiting for the approval.

Unfortunately, there is no explanation on why Google requested for another software version and how long will it take to be approved. Original timeline targeted by HTC for Android 5.0 Lollipop on HTC One GPEs was this week according to previous tweet from Mo Versi.

Expected Android 5.0 Lollipop Features For HTC One M8 And HTC One M7 Google Play Editions

Since Google Play Edition devices use the vanilla ROM and user interface of Android, owners can expect common features found on Motorola and Nexus models. Based on the official website of Android 5.0 Lollipop, here are some changes should be included on the update:

- Native battery power saver and battery monitoring service found in the Battery Settings.

- Material Design user interface and improvements to the Quick Settings.

- Lock screen notifications with interaction to respond or reply.

- Options for notification contents to control privacy level.

- Multiple user accounts to enhance privacy and security of apps and data files.

- New Accessibility options such as Colour Correction and High Contrast Text.

- OpenGL ES 3.1 for improved mobile graphics.

- Priority Mode to decrease disruptions caused by notifications.

- Android Runtime engine to improve performance of applications.
