The Nvidia Shield Tablet is the flagship tablet device of a company popular in its expertise in producing high-end gaming hardware. The Shield is basically not a gaming tablet but sure is powerful enough to perform as one. With the tablet packed with free gaming features, just the reason why the company opted to market the device as a gaming tablet.

Boasting with the ability to stream games, record gameplay direct to Twitch, support up to four players on a single device and to play high-end on device gaming. Even without the gaming features the Nvidia produced tablet is worthy of consumers attention with its fast and powerful processors. Its impressive graphic processing ability will surely give the new iPhone 6 some tough competition in terms of performance, Mashable reports.

Currently there isn't a gaming-focused tablet in the market and the company even has its own device that is primarily created for gaming called Shield Portable. But then again, consumers cannot easily let go of the fact that the device (though not really intended to be gaming device) can serve as a gaming-grade tablet which can withstand five to six hours of continuous games streaming.

It is important to note that the Shield has its weak points in terms of gaming functionality. Playing high-end games can be stressful to the device's battery bringing down battery life to two and a half hours low. Playing games in Shield without a TV is not enjoyable. With its relatively small 8-inch screen, good viewing experience will not be achieved with the device plus the need for a gamepad.

On the other hand, the Nvidia Shield Tab is perfect for living room use. It can be conveniently plugged in to owner's TV when the need for a bigger screen arises but even without TV, the watching experience with the device is great enough with its beautiful HD display and powerful speakers.

The Shield is also perfect for people on the go. It is definitely worth bringing on long flight hours as it will keep users company for a good 11 hours of web browsing, HD streaming, general app use and minimal gaming.

Invidia has recently announced that its tablet will be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop and according to Android Headlines the update is hitting some users already. However, owners of the Nvidia Shield Tablet with Wi-Fi only are the only ones receiving the update. Users with LTE only will have to wait a little longer.

Finally, the Shield Tablet is undoubtedly one of the finest tablets that hit the market. For those interested consumers, the LTE model with 32GB of memory costs US$400.
