Microsoft has abandoned its Nokia X series of smartphones project. However, the Nokia X2 was announced in June and the handset has recently been released in selected markets. The Nokia Lumia 730 (aka selfie phone), meanwhile, will be released sometime in August specific to Vietnam. Therefore both the phones can be expected to hit the store shelves across the globe shortly. Readers who are interested in the Nokia X2 or the Nokia Lumia 730 should check out this comparison.

Display

The Nokia X2 features a 4.3-inch IPS LCD display bundled with a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The Nokia Lumia 730, on the other hand, will reportedly feature a 4.7-inch display with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution. The pixel densities of the Nokia X2 and the Nokia Lumia 730 stand at 217 ppi and 312 ppi respectively.

The Nokia X2 boasts an improved display with the introduction of Nokia's ClearBlack polarization technology. This technology makes the outdoor viewing experience relatively better. As Anand Tech puts it, "It can make a mediocre display look OK, and a good display look great, at least in my experience." Furthermore, the Nokia X2's exterior is similar to the other Nokia X handsets. However, the X2 integrates a new translucent outer layer that makes the exterior look glossy.

At this point, there is no information available on the exterior of the upcoming Lumia 730 handset. However, the predecessor Lumia 630 features a plastic body and comes in vivid colours similar to other Lumia devices. Moreover, the smartphone comes with a highlighter-style shade and the body colour continues to the phone's buttons, giving it a clean-cut look, says Trusted Reviews.

Hardware, Software And Memory

The Nokia X2 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Nokia Lumia 730, meanwhile, will be powered by a relatively better quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. Both the handsets house the same 1 GB of RAM. Also, the Nokia X2 runs on Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean on top of Nokia X platform 2.0 UI, whereas the Nokia Lumia 730 will run on Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

The Nokia X2 comes with only 4 GB of internal storage with microSD card support for expansion up to 32 GB, whereas the Lumia 730 will offer 8 GB of expandable storage.

Camera And Battery

The Nokia X2 sports a 5 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a VGA shooter in the front. The Lumia 730, on the other hand, will house a relatively better 6.7 MP rear-facing camera unit with the famous Carl Zeiss lens and a surprisingly good 5 MP front-facing shooter for selfies.

The Nokia X2 houses a Li-Ion 1800 mAh battery unit, while the Nokia Lumia 730 features a relatively better Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery unit.
