The Nokia Lumia 730, aka selfie phone, has recently been released in selected markets, while Moto E was released last May. Both the handsets are budget-friendly and pack good configurations under the hood. Readers who are interested in the latest Nokia Lumia 730 or the ever-trustable Moto E should check out this comparison.

Display, Exterior And Size

The Moto E comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display complemented by 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 256 ppi pixel density. On the other hand, the Nokia Lumia 730 features has a relatively bigger 4.7-inch OLED display bundled with 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution and 316 ppi pixel density.

When it comes to design, the Lumia 730 looks a lot like the predecessor Lumia 720 with the same polycarbonate exterior and angular corners. The handset has a solid build and it is comfortable on the hands. The back panel is changeable and most of the shells come with shiny finish. It is worth mentioning that, the dedicated camera button on the smartphone is missing in the latest Lumia 730. Meaning, only the power and volume rockers fill the side, reports Know Your Mobile.

Meanwhile, the Moto E features a rugged build quality and it is easy on the hands. Moreover, the slightly rubberised plastic rear guarantees phenomenal grip. Even though the Moto E is an inexpensive smartphone, it comes with a unique waterproof coating on the exterior. However, this coating cannot be compared to the protection of IP67 certified (water-resistant) handsets like the Galaxy S5 and the Xperia Z2. Despite this, the Moto E is water-repellent and splash-proof.

Speaking of size, the thickness and the weight of the Nokia and Motorola handsets are (0.34-inch and 130 g) and (0.48-inch and 142 g), respectively.

Hardware, Software And Memory

The Nokia device is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Moto E, on the other hand, is powered by a relatively inferior dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Nonetheless, both the smartphones house the same 1 GB of RAM.

Coming to OS, the Lumia 730 runs on Windows Phone 8.1, while the Moto E runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat, which is upgradable to Android v4.4.4 KitKat. In addition, the Nokia device comes equipped with 8 GB of internal storage, whereas the Motorola handset comes with 4 GB storage. Despite the difference, both the phones support microSD card. The expansion limits of the Nokia and Motorola handsets stand at 128 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

Camera And Battery

The Moto E houses a 5 MP rear-facing camera with no LED flash and there is no front-facing unit at all. On the other hand, the Lumia 730 sports is relatively better of having 6.7 MP primary camera with the well-known Carl Zeiss optics and a surprisingly good 5 MP secondary snapper for selfies. Moreover, the Motorola handset is backed by a Li-Ion 1980 mAh battery, whereas the Lumia device comes equipped with a much-better Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery.

Misc

1. Other than supporting the standard connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB port, the Lumia 730 supports NFC, while the Moto E doesn't. Plus, both the phones do not support 4G LTE.

2. Also, both the devices support dual-SIM mode and micro-SIM type.

3. Similar to other Motorola smartphones, the Moto E features replaceable rear shells via Motorola Moto Maker. The Lumia 730 also comes with vivid and colourful back panels.
