There is no official announcement regarding “Yuri!!! on Ice” season 2 release date yet, but this information is expected to be announced soon. Series creator Mitsurou Kubo attended a major event in Japan last month, in which TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills streamed the first season of the anime series.

Kubo, however, has been mum about the second season 2 of the anime series. Even the voice actors themselves are silent about the details of a possible season 2.

Yuri Katsuki (Toshiyuki Toyonaga), Victor Nikiforov (Junichi Suwabe), and Yuri Plisetsky have also attended the same event. Toyonaga gave fans a ray of hope as he revealed that the anime creator already has some new ideas in mind for a sequel.

It is expected that in season 2, Yuri and Viktor’s romance will reach a next level. The finale of the first episode has not ended with a kiss or a huge declaration of love, but the two lead characters have skated together.

“Yuri!!! on Ice” season 1 followed the story of Yuri Katsuki. As a skater, he had some wins and losses in his life. The anime series has also touched the subject of sexuality. The Verge notes that there is real affection between Yuri and his coach, going beyond just preparing for a competition together.

The anime, which aired last year, became so popular that several companies released their series-branded merchandise. Anime News Network notes that the Shinjuku Marui Annex department store in Tokyo holds the "Ice Castle Hasetsu Branch Office in Shinjuku Marui Annex" event from March 1 to March 26.

The department store unveils products that feature the characters of the anime series. Yuri and Viktor are featured in animal kigurumi include mugs. There are also ceramic coasters, acrylic stand key holders, acrylic badges, kanzashi hair ornaments, hair accessories and bracelets.

The anime series received the Animation of the Year award for the Television Animation Division. The series had been famous not only in its home country, but also in other countries such as Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, Poland and the Philippines.

In Japan, the anime series has been dominating the domestic Blu-ray and DVD sales. According to Crunchyroll, the third volume of the series has sold over 33,000 units on its first week of release. DVD sales have also reached the second spot on its chart list with 13,000 units sold since its release on Feb 24. Fans in Australia can catch “Yuri!!! on Ice” on Crunchyroll.
