Multiple reports have stated that Neymar could possibly join Manchester United before the transfer window closes this year. However, no official bid has been made by the English club and no official word has been reported from the Brazilian’s camp about the probable transfer reportedly worth £240 million (AU $523 million).

Barcelona’s head Josep Maria Bartomeu was adamant that they are not letting go of one of their young star players. "We do not want [Neymar] to leave," Bartomeu said to ESPN. "He is young, we want him to retire here, at our club. He must stay here."

Bartomeu added that both sides would be working on a contract the next few months and that the team will not make any more moves this summer.

"Over the next months we will talk about a new contract for Neymar. He must stay here, not just three years, but five or 10 years,” Bartomeu added.

Neymar, who hails from Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, previous played for the Santos F.C. in the Brazilian pro league before moving to Barcelona in 2013 for a transfer fee of €57.1 million (AU $91.2 million).

Neymar, who is just 23 years old, has scored 54 goals in 92 matches for Barcelona. He has also represented the Brazilian soccer national team since 2007 being part of the various age-group teams from 2009 to 2012 and is part of the senior squad since 2010. In 65 international matches, he has produced 44 goals.
