“Be true to the mirror and to the world,” with this precious thought in mind, 22-year-old Amy Elsegood from Ripon, North Yorkshire, decided to post her no make-up selfie on the Internet which has gone viral, drawing her immense support from all over the world.

The beautiful young lady has been using special make-up from the NHS since she was 11 in order to conceal the port wine stain on her right cheek.

She was too self conscious about the whole thing but one day just decided to come out in the open.

"You were born like this, there is no reason to be ashamed," so I posted a no make-up selfie. The reaction on Facebook was amazing, I had over 600 likes with people all over the world messaging me, it was surreal,” Amy revealed.

She has got tired of the entire procedure and also declined to receive further laser treatment.

Amy, overwhelmed with the continuous positive response coming on her way, spoke about the way she has been bullied all through her childhood and youth because of this birth mark. She realised that she was different from others at a tender age of four.

'Other kids would point at me, call me ‘blob face’ and say that I was ugly. I even had one woman come up to me on holiday to say that I would’ve been pretty if it wasn’t for my birthmark, ' she remembered painfully.

She talked about her blissful love life and to be able to be with a man to who this mark never mattered and they are together for six years now.

'Since posting my selfie online I have gained so much confidence, it’s been great helping others who are in a similar position too. I’ve learnt that there are much worse things to have in life and I’ve accepted me for me,' a happy and content Amy added.

A woman looks her best on wearing confidence; Amy Elsegood has proved it once again.
