Rainway, Inc. is planning on releasing an application that will allow Nintendo Switch users to stream PC games on their console. It will be called Rainway. According to the developer, the app will soon be available in the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. However, the release date is yet to be determined.

Despite the lack of information regarding its release, various game forums are already talking about Rainway and its potential. Although there are other apps that enable game streaming on different platforms, Rainway might stream the best quality of them all.

One user posted a photo of him streaming “The Witcher 3” on his S8 Plus in Reddit. According to him, “it works incredibly.” At that time, the user was using Moonlight to stream the game onto his mobile device. However, the app needs an Nvidia GPU to stream, so not all devices are compatible with it.

User codeusasoft commented on the same thread that he is currently working on Rainway, which will work on all GPUs and support streaming to web browsers, mobile phones (iOS/Android), Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. According to him, the beta version of Rainway will be launched sometime next month.

In the Rainway official site, the developer gave three specific distinctions for the app. Its tagline, “Play your favorite games on any device,” made people excited as to the capabilities of the app. According to the site, it leverages the power of the PC, it requires no additional hardware and it has a pain-free setup.

Play huge games on the Nintendo Switch

Rainway, Inc. specifically mentioned that players will be able to play “Civilization 6” from the comforts of their couch, play “Stardew Valley” on-the-go with their mobile phones or enjoy different PC games on the macOS and Linux at 60 FPS. The number of frames is definitely a game-changer since most platforms or similar applications are only capable of 30 FPS, which is not stable at times.

The second description says that the app allows DirectX 11 support by taking advantage of the Rainway MSG protocol. Furthermore, its ease of access allows users to enjoy pain-free setup so players can play their favourite games instantly on the Nintendo Switch and other indicated platforms. Rainway also became a popular topic in NeoGAF. Most of the comments show a positive reaction towards the application.
