The Nintendo 3Ds and Wii U may still have a good deal of fan base. The company, however, has started to direct their sights to other ways and hardware that could add to the profit of Nintendo.

Speaking with Venture Beat, Nintendo boss Tatsumi Kimishima has mentioned that, to achieve “Nintendo-like profits,” the company will now look at two areas that the company is trying building. The first is, obviously, the upcoming Nintendo NX.

Said to be the company’s contender in the current console wars, the Nintendo NX is still a mystery for players and fans of Nintendo. The company has already promised to reveal more this year, though for the discussion, Kimisihima had high expectations for the Nintendo NX’s performance as beneficial to bringing back Nintendo to its glory days.

Additionally, Nintendo has also been in the business of looking into smartphone games on iOS and Android platforms. Without going into specifics of where the company is at in the endeavour, Kimishima did mention that the past fiscal years have been pegged at developing the two areas mentioned. According to him, the preparation was to ensure that these will turn Nintendo’s profits and add to the businesses that are still being brought by Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

“As I have described before, where development was split between handheld and home-console divisions in the past, we have unified these activities for both hardware and software development,” said Kimishima to Venture Beat. “And the exciting new ideas coming from development are evidence of the progress being made as a result of that unification.”

To say that many fans are waiting for more details on the Nintendo NX is an understatement. There have been several speculations on the games that will come out, particularly the one on “Super Smash Bros” not only being a title but a launch game for the console. Nintendo has not yet given any specific announcements about this, but given the promises hyping the Nintendo NX, there may be more to come in the following months.

Still, even with the alleged lower sales that the Nintendo 3Ds and Wii U are bringing the company, this does not stop games from being released on the platforms. Just recently, Nintendo has released a list of games that are now available on its current platforms. Listed over at the official Nintendo website, some of the new downloadable titles include “Pokemon Mystery Dungeon” Blue and Red Rescue Team on Virtual Console for the Wii U and “Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty,” “Discovery” and “Jones on Fire” on the Wii U.

There are also some add-on content for the Nintendo 3DS. These include “Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight,” “Project X Zone 2” and “Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique 2 – Fashion Forward.” The complete list of new downloads and demos can be seen in the link above.
